Whether a child has been placed with a foster family or into residential treatment, or the family needs help strengthening its family structure, you can help make their transition smooth and let them know that someone cares. Here are few suggestions that you can do by yourself or as a group:
Assemble gift baskets, Welcome kits (toiletries, pillow case or throw), Household Essentials basket, Adult/ Child Activity baskets, or a Pampering Mom basket.
Provide for a family outing to a local museum, restaurant, or other cultural or sporting venue that strengthens family bonds. A trip might include tickets to the Adventure Aquarium, Philadelphia Zoo, Please Touch Museum or Franklin Institute, SEPTA tokens or parking, and a meal.
Support the family structure with restaurant and grocery gift cards. Funds for emergency needs are also useful.
The average cost for a family outing for four is $200. The cost of preparing a basket is at the discretion of the donor.
