TheVillage utilizes the Sanctuary Model of Trauma-Informed Care. The sanctuary model serves as a blueprint for clinical and organizational change that promotes safety and recovery from adversity through the active creation of a trauma-informed community.
By embracing the Sanctuary Model, theVillage is able to create an environment that not only addresses the effects trauma has upon its clients, the children and families we serve, but also the impact of vicarious trauma experienced by theVillage’s staff. The Sanctuary Model allows us to take a community-as-a-whole approach to healing by developing structures, processes, and behaviors to address the ongoing impact of trauma and extended exposure to adversity.
